Wives of Local Government Chairmen pay courtesy call on Akwa Ibom First Lady

Wives of Local Government Chairmen of Nigeria, WALGON, Akwa Ibom State Chapter, has been charged to be actively involved in ensuring that teenage girls in its localities between the ages of nine to fourteen are available for the administration a vaccination that will prevent them from contacting cervical cancer, called the Human Papilloma Virus Vaccine.
Wife of the State Governor, Pastor Patience Eno, gave the charge when members of WALGON paid a courtesy visit to her in Government House, Uyo.
Pastor Eno implored the wives of Chairmen as frontline leaders in their communities to have a regular interface with women at the grassroots and dialogue on how to promote standard of living among families and ensure a safe and secure society.
The Governor’s wife explained that her pet project which she said would be unveiled soon, focuses on the wellbeing of families and that it has already commenced in the areas of reaching out to the less privileged members of society and providing succour to them.
While soliciting support, constructive ideas, and the hosting of events and programmes for the success of her vision for families, the Governor’s wife noted that her pet project is in line with the ARISE Agenda of Governor Umo Eno and called on wives of Local Government Chairmen to be actively involved in interpreting her vision for the state.
Speaking earlier, the Chairperson, Wives of Local Government Council of Nigeria, Akwa Ibom State Chapter, Maria – Therese Robson, while lauding the Governor’s wife for granting them audience, explained that the purpose of their visit was to inform the First Lady of the end of their husbands’ tenure as Local Government Chairmen which Speaking earlier, the Chairperson, Wives of Local Government Council of Nigeria, Akwa Ibom State Chapter, Maria – Therese Robson, while lauding the Governor’s wife

She therefore appealed to the Governor’s Wife to carry them along in her projects for the State, while assuring that they are willing and ready to partner her even after their husbands would have vacated office as Local Government Council Executives.
