The snap presidential election in Venezuela scheduled for April 22, 2018, has been pushed back by a month.
National Electoral Council, which announced the shift, said the poll would now be held on May 20 this year.
The move came after an agreement was reached between the government and a small number of opposition parties.
President Nicolás Maduro has registered to run for a second six-year term.
An observation delegation from the United Nations is expected to monitor “all phases of the process”.
Traditionally, presidential elections are held in Venezuela in December but in February the Election Body announced they would be brought forward to April.
In response to the latest announcement, the main Opposition Democratic Unity Coalition has said it would boycott the election, saying it would still be fraudulent.
