United Kingdom to exit European Union today after forty seven years membership

Written by on January 31, 2020

After years of controversies, the United Kingdom will at 11pm today leave the European Union; ending forty seven years of membership.

British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, is expected to address the country an hour before the much-anticipated transition time.

A series of events including marches, celebrations and candlelit vigils will be held by both Brexiteers and pro-EU demonstrators.

Reacting to the big day, Brexit Party leader, Nigel Farage, has described it as a massive victory for the people.

Brexit was originally scheduled for 29th March 2019, but was repeatedly delayed when members of Parliament rejected a previous withdrawal agreement reached by the EU and former Prime Minister, Theresa May.
