State Assembly concludes 2020 budget defence.

Surveyor General of Akwa Ibom, Emem Isang, has appealed to the state government for release of funds in 2020, to enable her office embark on the much-needed State-wide Area Mapping and creation of the Geographic Information System.
Isang mentioned this today while defending the 2020 budget of her Office at the House of Assembly Committee on Appropriation and Finance.
The Surveyor General, who noted that other states like Lagos, Cross River and Ogun have completed both projects, explained that if they are carried out in the state, it will enhance the ease of doing business in Akwa Ibom, and improve Internally Generated Revenue.

Isang also appealed to the state government to provide a permanent accommodation for her Office in order to keep vital government documents safe from buglers and thieves.
She added that the Office of the Surveyor General has embarked on sensitization of Akwa Ibom people, particularly in Ikot Abasi and Mkpat Enin, on the importance of land survey before utilization.

After two weeks of engaging Ministries, Departments and Agencies on their 2020 budget estimates, the House of Assembly’s Committee on Appropriation and Finance has ended its budget defence.
During the period, MDA’s presented their score-cards, plans for the coming fiscal year and challenges hindering their performances.
The Committee, headed by Uduak Odudoh, commenced the open-door exercise Friday, November 2019.
At the close of the defence, Odudoh observed that most MDA’s honored the invitation of the committee, while a few failed to attend.

Reports from Comfort FM House of Assembly Reporter, Ruth Amadin, indicates that with the exercise over, the attention of the Committee on Appropriation and Finance, will now shift to government projects captured in the 2020 budget, to ascertain the level of work done so far.
