Speaker & Members of A’Ibom House of Assembly attends 50th Commonwealth Conference

Members of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly led by the Speaker, Aniekan Bassey, are among Nigeria’s delegation at the ongoing 50^th Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, Africa Regional Conference, billed to end tomorrow, in Zanzibar, Tanzania.

The conference, according to the Speaker, has offered members of the state legislature ample opportunity in parliamentary and diplomatic relations, as well as enhancing their legislative capacity.

Mr Bassey, in a statement by his Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Darlington Udobong, is of the hope that the summit will aid the 7^th State Assembly to achieve its legislative agenda, work to support good governance, democracy and human rights, especially as they prepare to resume plenary on Tuesday, 10^th September, 2019.

The statement noted that the fifteen-man State Assembly delegation will take advantage of all the sessions including discussions at plenary on “Parliamentary Affairs; The Use of ICT in Strengthening Public Involvement in the Legislative Process; Social Affairs” and “Youth Affairs; Implementation of Youth Policies as a Tool to Combat Migration.”
