SARS can no longer detain any suspect, says Lagos State Commisioner

Henceforth, Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS unit in Lagos Police Command would no longer detain suspects in their cells.

Such action has been banned by the State Police Commissioner, Hakeem Odumosu.

Speaking in a televised porogramme, Odumosu directed SARS officers to only move out on information and notify the Area Commander before carrying out their operations.

According to him, SARS operatives attached to the tactical squads of the Command would have to sign an undertaking, committing to professional best practices.

The Lagos Police Commissioner assured residents that it will no longer be business as usual, as monitoring and supervision of SARS operatives would be increased.
