Restructuring: Buhari won’t succumb to threats of breakup, says presidency

Presidency has described recent calls by individuals and groups for the restructuring of the country as unwarranted and unpatriotic outbursts.

Over the weekend, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, joined other prominent Nigerians in the call in order to save the country from breakup.

Reacting in a statement, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, said such pleas are threats to the corporate existence of Nigeria.

Shehu, who frowned at some factions for setting timelines for President Buhari to carry out the task, noted that the government will not succumb to threats and take any decision out of pressure at a time when the nation’s full attention is needed to deal with the security and COVID-19 challenges facing it.

He assured Nigerians that the President will not take any decision against the interests of Nigerians, who are his first responsibility.
