Reps call for extension of NIN registration deadline on SIM cards

House of Representatives has waded into the plan of the Nigerian Communications Commission to disconnect telephone lines that are not registered with National Identification Numbers in the next two weeks.

 

The Green Chamber at today plenary, asked the Federal Government to extend the deadline for affected telecommunication service subscribers to January 28, 2021.

 

The House described the two weeks given to SIM card users to provide their National Identification Numbers to service providers as grossly inadequate.

 

Minority Leader, Ndudi Elumelu, brought the matter to the attention of the House in a motion of urgent public importance.
