Nigeria’s Federal Government refutes allegation of reintroducing fuel subsidy regime.

National Petroleum Corporation Limited, NNPCL, says contrary to claims in some quarters, the federal government has not reintroduced subsidies on petrol.

Group Managing Director of the company, Mele Kyari, who made this denial yesterday during a chat with journalists in Abuja, noted that the insinuations flying around the social media and some individuals should be discountenanced

Kyari made it clear that the government is recovering the full cost from petroleum products imported, and then sell to the market, but hoped that the challenges confronting the marketers in trying to import fuel would be resolved quickly.

kyari further stated that the pockets of low queues witnessed across some states recently were due to bad roads that had made transporters divert the product to other routes.

According to him, over one point four billion litres of petrol are available for local consumptions, both on the seas and land, insisting that there is no cause for alarm.
