Governor Udom Emmanuel Re-elected, beats Nsima of APC in a Landslide Victory

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially declared candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP winner of the Governorship Elections in Akwa Ibom held across the state on Saturday, March 9, 2019.

Governor Udom Emmanuel in a landslide victory won election in 30 out of 31 Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom state to return to the Hilltop mansion for his second term tenure in office.

According to the announcement by INEC, Udom Emmanuel polled a total number of 519, 712 votes to emerge the winner, while his closest contender, candidate of the APC, Obong Nsima Ekere scored a total of 171, 978 votes.

While declaring Udom Emmanuel as winner of the Gubernatorial Elections, the Vice Chancellor of University of Benin, Professor Faraday Osarere Orumwense said; ‘I hereby certify that as the returning officer of the Akwa Ibom State Governorship Elections held on March 9, 2019, ‘Udom Emmanuel of the PDP having satisfied the requirements of LAW and scored the highest the number of votes, I hereby declare Udom Emmanuel the winner and returned elected’’.

For the records, a total number of 50 political party agents signed the result, except the agent of APC, Archbishop Samuel Akpan, who is said to have walked out on the ground that his party mandated him not to accept the outcome of the result.
