FG to shutdown Third Mainland Bridge 72 hours, partially close Lagos-Ibadan Expressway 48 hours

The Federal Controller of Works Lagos, Mr Olukayode Popoola on Tuesday announced a 72-hour total closure of the Third Mainland Bridge to cast concrete on the expansion joints.

 

With effect from Christmas midnight, Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos state will be totally shut for seventy-two hours.

The closure, according to the Federal Controller of Works, Olukayode Popoola, is to allow for the casting of concrete on the expansion joints.

Popoola said that the shutdown will last till midnight of 28th December midnight, in order to prevent vibration of the bridge with the passage of vehicles.

Repairs on the bridge began July this year and were to end in January 2021 but have been shifted till February.
