Enugu State Governor comes to the aid of people living with HIV in Enugu

Respite has come the way of people living with HIV in Enugu, as the state government has removed all financial barriers hindering them from accessing medical treatment.

Henceforth, all card fees, consultation fees and charges for basic laboratory investigations stand removed for people living with HIV to guarantee them access to HIV prevention and treatment services across Enugu State.

Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi announced this during the launch of Antiretroviral Therapy Surge Response in the state, saying his administration was desirous of providing more Rapid HIV Test Kits to enable new cases benefit from treatment programme supported by United States’ Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Ugwuanyi noted that Enugu was one of the first few states in Nigeria to pass a law prohibiting stigmatization and discrimination against people living with HIV.
