Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has warned the state’s executive council members to focus on meeting their targets in terms of service delivery to the indigenes and not be carried away by present political activities in the country particularly in the build up to the 2019 general election.

In a brief remark during the opening of the 2018 Edo State Executive Council retreat held over the weekend in Abuja, he said there was the likelihood of some sort of political distraction as the activities for the next year’s elections begin to gather dust but tasked the commissioners and heads of agencies to remain focused towards delivering on his administration’s promises to the people of the state.

He noted the emerging political events are “not enough excuse for why his government cannot deliver on each promise made.”

He noted that the state’s 2018 budget had been signed early in January to assist each agency to deliver on their strategy.

He said another strategy review retreat which had become a biannual programme would come up in six months time to assess the progress made on every target.
