Akwa United Anthem By Joel Abel

Two Time Nigeria Federation Cup Champions Akwa United Football club of Uyo now has a club anthem.

The club anthem is written and composed by Mr Joel Abel and was unanimously endorsed by a Five-Man panel which was headed by the Head of Music Department, University of Uyo Dr. Isaac Udoh. The panel was set up by the management of the club to assess entries that were submitted by interested members of the public.

The anthem which will be sung by the players, fans and supporters of the club during matches, runs for two minutes and four seconds (2:04) and has two short verses of four lines each and a chorus.

The song which is easy to memorize, has captured the character and identity of the team and also has some unique universal theme.

The anthem which has been made available to Radio and Television stations across Nigeria can also be downloaded from the club’s official website www.akwaunitedfc.net and the club’s other social media platforms.

Commenting on the development, the Chief Executive Officer of the Club Elder Paul Bassey expressed delight at the fulfillment of another chapter in the branding project of the club.
A total of 63 entries were received out of which three were shortlisted for the final pick.
