Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has passed a bill into law seeking to reposition the State College of Arts and Science in Nung- Ukim, Ikono Local Government Area, for effective service delivery.

The bill, sponsored by Member representing Ikot Abasi/Eastern Obolo State constituency, Hon. Uduak Ududo, was passed at yesterday’s plenary after the House considered a report of the House committee on Education, led by Samuel Ufuo.

Speaker, Barrister Onofiok Luke, commended the sponsor, co-sponsors as well as entire membership of the House for undertaking the task to reposition the College for effective service delivery to Akwa Ibom people.

He noted that with the passage of the bill, the institution now has the needed legal backing to operate and facilitate accreditation of courses offered in the institution.

He pointed out that the move by the House would further position Akwa Ibom as an educationally advantaged state and enable the school to attract funding from TETFUND, private individuals and other organisations.

The House adjourned sitting Plenary to the 12th of April, 2018.
