Whistleblower Gets Paid

The Ikoyi Apartment whistleblower, who informed and helped the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) recover so much monies stashed away in an apartment has reportedly been paid some part of his commission, the whistleblower’s lawyer, confirmed this news.

The discovery had monies which included $43m, N23.2m and £27,800 (N13bn).

The whistleblowing policy says the Govenrment is to pay the whistleblower about N421m reward for the discovery.

The whistleblower is said to have travelled out of the country shortly after receiving part of the reward. His lawyer confirmed it.

“My client confirmed to me that he had received a credit alert from the federal government. He travelled out of the country this morning,” he was quoted to have said. “He has been paid the first instalment but there were many tax deductions.

“Yes, we are happy. I will give you more details later but I can confirm now that he has received some money.”
