The planned implementation of the new national minimum wage with workers earning below thirty thousand naira monthly, while others would follow after the conclusion of talks on consequential adjustments, has been rejected by the Trade Union Congress.
President of the TUC, Quadri Olaleye, in a statement issued in Abuja, accused the government of playing smart to avert industrial unrest.
While expressing concern over the circular released by the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission, Olaleye observed that it contradicts the purpose for setting the National Minimum Wage Committee.
He warned that organised labour should not be blamed for any consequential action, arising from non-implementation of the minimum wage.
