Vice President harps on benefits of government social investment schemes

Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, has reiterated government’s target to alleviate poverty in the country through different social investment schemes.

Osibanjo who stated this at the African Policy Road Show, pointed out that the Npower social empowerment scheme which has over five hundred thousand beneficiaries, had helped in poverty reduction as well as in addressing unemployment.

The vice-president, who was represented at the conference by his Special Adviser, Adeyemi Dipeolu, noted that there was a reduction in the inequality gap with the eradication of malnutrition in the country with the National School Feeding Programmes.

He noted that the school feeding programme had provided jobs for more than one hundred and six thousand cooks in fifty three thousand schools nationwide.
