Tribunal affirms election of Barrister Otobong Bob as Nsit Ubium state constituency Rep

The House of Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Uyo has dismissed a petition brought by the APC candidate for Nsit Ubium State Constituency, Ime Alfred Akpan, against the election of Barrister Otobong Effiong Bob.

The Tribunal at its resumed sitting today, said it arrived at the decision following the failure of the petitioner to apply for hearing notice after seven days as required by section 18/1 of the Electoral Act.

According to the Tribunal, the case was dismissed as having been abandoned by the petitioner.

In his reaction, Barrister Bob described the petition as a distraction noting that, now that the case has been decided in his favour, he will now settle down to carry out his legislative duties.

Bob who is the House Committee Chairman on Business, Rules and Ethics reminded his opponent that the election is over and it is now time for governance.

The law maker appealed to the petitioner to join hands with him to attract dividends of democracy to the good and peace loving people of Nsit Ubium state Constituency.
