TEACHERS

Liberian President George Weah’s request for over six thousand teachers from Nigeria has received the commendation of the Teachers’ Registration Council of Nigeria.

Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of TRCN, Prof. Segun Ajiboye, told newsmen in Ibadan, Oyo State, at the weekend, that the statement by Weah was a welcome development.

Prof Ajiboye who hinted that about two million teachers are licensed to practise in Nigeria however pointed out that only those who are qualified and licensed would be sent there.

The former unionist reiterated his commitment to revolutionise TRCN and raise the standard of education in the country, even as he appealed to state governments to take the issue of teachers’ welfare seriously.
