Written by on August 26, 2019

Governors in the six Southwest states are set to launch a new security outfit to be known as Western Nigeria Security Network.

The governors, in a statement, noted that they are putting finishing touches to the inauguration of the outfit in October, following the Approval in Principle by the Office of the National Security Adviser for the zone to establish a Joint Task Force to tackle killings, banditry and kidnapping in the region.

They said already, they had procured patrol vans to be used by the outfit in each state as branches of the regional outfit with a regional management team to coordinate its activities across the region and ensure exchange of intelligence and sharing of experiences for maximum performance.

The Governors noted that the Network would comprise unconventional security personnel, including local hunters, members of the Oodua People’s Congress and other related personnel in collaboration with traditional rulers and the police.
