Senate to roll Out New modalities in Fight Against Corruption

An inflation of personnel budget and padding amounting to over eighteen billion naira has been discovered by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission from some Federal Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.

Chairman of ICPC, Professor Bolaji Owasanoye, said the discovery followed the launching of its System Study and Review of Practices in over three hundred Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.

Professor Owasanoye was speaking at the National Summit on Diminishing Corruption in the Public Sector and presentation of integrity awards, organized by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation in Abuja.

Following the discovery, Professor Owasanoye stressed the need for full implementation of the presidential directive that MDAs not on Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System should not be paid.

Chairman of ICPC, Professor Bolaji Owasanoye, at an event organised by the agency and the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation in Abuja, said following careful investigations, the names of such persons has been forwarded to government.

Professor Owasanoye also divulged that some civil servants who served conviction terms, returned to work as if nothing happened.

He therefore made a case for digital information sharing between anti-corruption agencies and financial services sector critical to preventing money laundering and other forms of corruption.
