Senate Approves Refund for Kogi State, as INEC bemoans Indiscriminate Court Orders

Written by on November 13, 2019

The Senate today approved the sum of ten billion naira loan refund for Kogi State amid stiff resistance from the opposition senators  as Committee on Local and Foreign Loans submitted its report on the issue.

Chairman of the Committee said necessary findings conducted by his panel showed that due process was followed by the Kogi State government in executing Federal Government projects  adding that Federal Government agencies in charge of the loan refund had approved the payment.

In his contribution, Senator Jibrin Barau, said although states that had done the job of the Federal Government should be paid, the approval appeared too hasty.

President of the Senate, Ahmed Lawan, subjected the matter to a voice vote and ruled in favour of those who supported its approval despite protests from lawmakers who were raising points of order.
