SAUDI ARABIA

More winds of freedom to reach Saudi Arabian women as they would be allowed to attend football matches on Friday for the first time in the conservative kingdom.

Female fans would enter major sports stadiums in the Kingdom for the first time to attend three football matches involving local sides as part of the Saudi Professional League competition.

The three fixtures are scheduled for Friday, Saturday and January 18.

Recall that, in September, Saudi King, Salman Abdelaziz, issued a royal order allowing women to drive, breaking a long standing tradition as social reforms in the conservative kingdom gather pace.

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is believed to have championed lifting the ban as he is seeking to open up the country and revamp its international image.
