Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, said yesterday he was confident that National Assembly would pass Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit, NFIU, Bill into law this week.

The bill seeking to make NFIU autonomous was passed by the Senate in July but it had since been delayed at the House of Representatives.

President of the Nigerian 8th Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki In a series of tweets, yesterday, Saraki said he had met with Yakubu Dogara, Speaker of the House of Representatives over the issue.

He said a conference committee meeting for the bill would hold today, adding that the reports would be laid in both chambers tomorrow.

In July 2017, the Egmont Group threatened to suspend Nigeria because of the “interference” of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, in the workings of the unit.
