Reps to screen new service chiefs Wednesday

Screening for the newly appointed service chiefs will take place before the House of Representatives on Wednesday.

According to Chairman of the House Committee on Defence, Babajimi Benson, the exercise will be carried out behind closed doors for security reasons.

The service chiefs are Major General Lucky lrabor, Chief of Defence Staff; Major General Ibrahim Attahiru, Chief of Army Staff; Rear Admiral Awwal Gambo, Chief of Naval Staff; and Air Vice Marshal Isiaka Amao, Chief of Air staff.

They are to replace the former Chiefs of Defence Staff, General Abayomi Olonisakin; Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai; Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok Ibas; and Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar.

Benson, however, noted that the House and the Senate would conduct a parallel exercise.
