Presidency approves 59th independence anniversary activities

As Nigerians prepare for the country’s 59th Independence anniversary, President Muhammadu Buhari has approved a lineup of activities to mark the celebration.

According to a release signed by the Director of Information in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Willie Bassey, the celebration will commence on Monday, September 23 with a media parley at the National Press Center in Abuja.

This will be followed by a Juma’at Prayer and a lecture on Friday, September 27 at the National Mosque, Abuja and an Interdenominational Christian Service on Sunday, September 29 at the National Christian Center, Abuja.

On Monday, September 30, it will be time for the Independence edition of the National Youth Enterprise Employment Summit at the International Conference Center, Abuja and a Youth Concert at the Millennium Park.

And on the D-day, Tuesday, October 1, the President would make an Independence broadcast by seven o’clock in the morning, followed by the Presidential Change of Guards and Public Lecture/Gala Night at the State House to drop the curtain on the programmes.
