PDP in Akwa Ibom set for peaceful protest march over Supreme Court’s verdict on Imo state Governorship election

Written by on January 18, 2020

Following the resolution at the last National Executive Committee meeting of the Peoples’ Democratic Party in Akwa Ibom, party faithful will tomorrow, January 19 2020, embark on a peaceful protest march at 2pm.

The party, in a statement signed by the State Chairman, Obong Paul Ekpo, explained that the peaceful march is to register its displeasure over the recent political happenings in Imo, where the Supreme Court nullified the election of PDP’s Emeka Ihedioha and declared Hope Uzodinma of APC validly elected Governor of the state.

The statement described the development as robbery, arguing that the apex court announced results which it claimed are contradictory with the existing reality, in the March 2019 Governorship elections.

It urged leaders and members of the party to partake in the march, which is billed to take-off from the State Party Secretariat, located at Number 113 Edet Akpan Avenue, Uyo.
