As part of activities marking the 59th independence anniversary of Nigeria, Christian faithful gathered yesterday at the National Christian Centre in Abuja for an interdenominational church service.

Addressing the congregation, Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, expressed optimism that despite the challenges facing the nation, a new Nigeria was about to be born, as God is ready to take the people to the Promised Land.

The Vice President who reminded the people that God is the builder of the nation and God controls the destiny of nations, said the new Nigeria promised by God is a peaceful, united and prosperous country; one where justice, equity and fairness will prevail.

Osinbajo tasked Nigerians to keep hope alive like Caleb and Joshua and see God change the fortunes of the country.

On his part, former Head of State, Retired General Yakubu Gowon, called on Nigerians to salvage the nation from woes and unite in faith.
