NUPENG

Worried by the excesses of some petroleum tanker drivers especially during festive seasons, the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers has constituted a taskforce to check reckless driving on the nation’s highways.

The Union’s President, Igwe Achese, who stated this in Abuja, expressed optimism in the capacity of tanker drivers to abide by necessary safety rules.

Achese warned that those found to have violated traffic rules and consequently endanger the lives of other commuters would be severely reprimanded to serve as a deterrent to others.

He hinted that the members of the union have been advised not to drink and drive and to limit their speed while driving, adding that a taskforce has been commissioned to monitor tanker drivers in the way they manage their driving attitude on the roads.
