NEPAL

Nepalese government has objected a recent report released by the European Union’s Election Observation Mission regarding the country’s parliamentary and provincial elections held in November and December, last year.

Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs argued that the report has undermined the successful holding of the smooth, peaceful and impartial elections and made unwarranted comments about political issues that have already been settled.

The Ministry stressed that the elections were a milestone in terms of the implementation of the Constitution as well as the conclusion of Nepal’s peace process.

Recall that in the report released yesterday, the EU Election Observation Mission to Nepal had raised questions over the elections’ transparency, fairness and electoral process.
