Jamb insist on National Identification Number for Exams Clearance

Written by on September 25, 2019

It will no longer be business as usual for candidates’ intending to sit for the 2020 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, as the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has insisted that only candidates with their National Identification Numbers can register and sit for the examination.

The Board’s Head of Information, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, who made this known in Abuja, advised intending candidates to register with the National Identity Management Commission to enable them obtain their National Identification Numbers.

Benjamin explained that JAMB would no longer capture the biometrics of candidates, as information required by the Board would be uploaded from the data captured by the NIMC for registration.

He also advised candidates who had registered and acquired their NIN before attaining the age of 16 to update their NIN registration status before proceeding for the UTME registration.

The move, according to Benjamin, is to guard against all forms of registration infractions.
