It is very difficult to make fuel available at 145 Naira per litre – Kyari

Written by on July 11, 2019

From the look of things, the yearnings of Nigerians to buy petrol for less than one hundred naira may never be granted by the authorities in charge of the product.

This is because the group managing director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Mele Kyari has said that it is very difficult to make fuel available at one hundred and forty five naira per litre.

Kyari made this known yesterday during a courtesy visit to president of the Senate, Ahmed Lawan at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja.

He said apart from encouraging smuggling, the one hundred and forty five naira which he said was a cheap price runs against the three hundred and fifty naira per litre most of the other West African countries operate.

The NNPC helmsman was accompanied by his predecessor, Maikanti Baru who said the visit was meant to canvass the Senate’s support for the quick passage of the Deep Offshore Amendment Bill.

Baru explained that the Deep Offshore Amendment Act has the potential of boosting federal government’s revenue by about five billion dollars yearly.
