I won’t approve 2021 budget without provisions for #EndSARS victims, ASUU – Gbajabiamila

Written by on October 21, 2020

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, says he would not sign the 2021 Appropriation Bill if provisions are not made for the compensation of families of victims of police brutality in the last decade.

Gbajabiamila gave other conditions for signing the budget to include better welfare package provisions for police officers and implementation of the agreement between the Academic Staff Union of Universities and the Federal Government was not captured in the budget.

He stated this at yesterday’s plenary.

Gbajabiamila stated that the House of Representatives would establish a system of citizen-led accountability for the Nigeria Police Force, insisting that the police were not above the citizens and the law.
