Governor Udom Emmanuel task Security Agencies to combat insecurity in Niger Delta

Governor Udom Emmanuel has tasked Security agencies in the country to step up their intelligence gathering so as to successfully combat insecurity and criminality in the Niger Delta Region.

The Governor made the remark yesterday while playing host to the Commander, Joint Task Force Operation Delta Safe, Rear Admiral Akinjide Akinrade, who led members of his team to Government House, Uyo, on a courtesy visit.

Mr Emmanuel traced the problem of criminality in the society to drug abuse which according to him, has become very rampant in recent times and urged relevant agencies to curb the use of illegal substances to help in the fight against criminality.

While wishing the Task Force Commander success in his assignment, the Governor appreciated Security agencies for collaborating with the state government in the fight against crime and promised to continue to support them to succeed.

Rear Admiral Akinrade told the Governor that he assumed Command of the Task Force three months ago and appreciated Mr. Emmanuel for the logistic support rendered to security agencies in the state, especially the renovation of Ibagwa barracks and building of Navy military school.

Rear Admiral Akinrade briefed the governor on the history of the Task Force and his achievements in the past three months.
