GOVERNOR UDOM

Akwa Ibom state government has announced plans to cultivate an additional ten hectares of hybrid Tomatoes to meet the increasing demand of the crop in the domestic market.

Governor Emmanuel dropped the hint yesterday during an inspection of the Green House plantation on Ibom International Airport road.

The Governor said the initial plan was to saturate the domestic market with the Tomatoes variety that has enough puree, but following a recent survey, there are demands of the crop at the international market.

He described the cultivation of cucumber, tomatoes, pepper and other spices by the San Carlos investors as a major revolution in the Agro-sector.

The Governor assured that adequate steps would be taken to supply both the domestic and international markets with the crops.

Mr Emmanuel said that his administration focused on the set blue print of governance, stressing that any government that cannot conquer hunger cannot be said to work irrespective of the available infrastructure.
