Governor Emmanuel calls on contending forces in Qua Iboe church to sheath sword.

Written by on October 11, 2019

Governor Udom Emmanuel has broken his silence on the faceoff between the two factions of the Qua Iboe church, asking them to reconcile under one conference to exhibit the Christ-like virtue of humility.

The Governor, himself a deacon in the church, said the action would also bring respect to the vision of the Irish missionary, Reverend Samuel Bill, who brought Christianity to this part of the Globe.

Mr Emmanuel made the plea yesterday while inaugurating the reconstructed Samuel Bill Theological college, at Ikot Ekang in Abak Local Government Area.

The state chief executive said God used the missionary to bring development as well the spread of Christianity to all parts of the state and the Ighala region in Kogi state with eloquent legacies such as schools and hospitals to serve humanity.

Mr Emmanuel wondered what legacies the factions would bequeath to reflect their calling as Christians, saying that many people go to church as a routine but still harbored their carnal nature and worldly attributes.

According to the Governor, the church has become worldly while the world has become churchy without Christ, lacking the fruits of the spirit.

Quoting from Isaiah chapter twenty eight verse twenty nine and second Thessalonians chapter three verses one to three the Governor called on the people to show respect to constituted Authority and not attempt to bring disrepute to the Leadership of the church.

He congratulated the Governing Council of the Samuel Bill Theological College for keeping aglow the vision of the founding fathers for the training of ministers and pledged to support the vision for the institution, currently affiliated to the University of Uyo to become a full-fledged faith based university.
