Written by on January 7, 2020

The planned tariff increment by federal government which is to take effect from April 1 2020 has triggered reactions from various quarters.

In Akwa Ibom state, residents said they are worried that the development is coming at a time when almost the prices of every item sold in the market has sky rocketed.

Speaking in an interview with Comfort FM reporter, Emem Alexander, Chairman, Akwa Ibom state Civil Liberties Organization, Otuekong Franklin Isong said it was worrisome that the people would have to squeeze to pay for new tariff at a time when their monthly pay was still the same.

Isong said he was most bothered about the fact that Akwa Ibom people would also have to pay extra charges for power supply which they hardly enjoy.
