CURRENCY SWAP HARDSHIP: INNOCENT UDOIDIONG FOUNDATION PROVIDES PALIATIVES FOR ETIM EKPO RESIDENTS

Following the current hardship faced by Nigerians occasioned by the aftermath of the Federal Government’s currency redesign policy, a total of about 500 families in Etim Ekpo Local Government Area have benefited from palliatives donated by a non-governmental organization, Innocent Udoidiong Foundation.

The items comprised rice and garri  given to the beneficiaries drawn from various communities in the local government area at Ibio Nung Achat by the representatives of the Foundation.

The NGO founded in 2022 by a UK- based scholar, Mr. Innocent Udoidiong, also donated four hundred litres of Premium Motor Spirit, popularly called petrol, to commercial motorcycle operators  in Etim Ekpo to enable them ply their trade.

Speaking during the presentation of the relief items, the National Coordinator of the foundation, Mr. Joseph Ekpo said the Founder/CEO of the organization, Mr. Innocent Udoidiong, was concerned about the plight of the vulnerble persons following the economic hardship currently faced by Nigerians as a result of the government’s financial policy.

While noting that the Foundation was poised to touch the lives of the people in diverse ways, Ekpo urged the beneficiaries drawn from various communities in the local government area to pray for the donor of the items for enablement and God’s grace to continue to do more for the people.

Also speaking, the Foundation’s Media Officer, Tony Esin said the gesture was part of the NGO’s mission to tackle poverty and promote economic viability of local residents in line with the Sustainable Development Goal One.

Esin called on other well-meaning individuals, organizations and the government to follow suit in donating palliatives to the vulnerable persons in the state to cushion the effect of the hardship brought on them due to the government’s fiscal policies.

Some of the beneficiaries in their responses commended the Founder of the NGO, Mr. Innocent Udoidiong for his empathy towards them while praying God to provide for him in return.

It will be recalled that the IUF in December last year donated dual desks, school ban and school uniforms to four schools in the Local Government Area.

Other schools in the state including Government Primary Aka One, Uyo; Secondary Grammar School, Upenekang, Ibeno Local Government Area; Government Primary School, Ikot Akpan Okop, Mkpat Enin Local Government Area; St. Mary’s Practicing School, Ediene Abak, Abak Local Government Area previously received dual desks and other educational materials from the Foundation.
