Court Orders Release Of Sowore From DSS Custody.

Written by on September 24, 2019

Respite came the way of the embattled convener of the #Revolution Now protests, Omoyele Sowore, as the Federal High Court in Abuja today ordered his immediate release from the detention of the Department of State Service.

The court decided that there was no extant order allowing Sowore’s further detention and directed Sowore to deposit his international passport within forty-eight hours after his release, while asking his lawyer, Femi Falana, to be responsible for producing him in court once he has been notified of the charge against him.

The judge, Taiwo Taiwo, pointed out that the law provides for the freedom of all Nigerians regardless of economic or political status.

It is worthy of note that Sowore was arrested on August 3 for planning the nationwide #RevolutionNow protest.
