Buhari condoles with victims in Anambra as Governor Obiano sets up probe panel.

President Muhammadu Buhari has condoled with the people and government of Anambra state, over yesterday’s oil tanker explosion, which saw a mother and her child burnt to death, as well as injury of many others.

President Buhari in a statement, expressed sadness over the accident, which took place at Upper Iweka, in Onitsha, and extended his sympathies to other victims of the explosion whose houses, shops and other property were destroyed in the mishap.

He, however, called for urgent action on the part of concerned government agencies to stem such frequent fata=l disasters on public roads, adding that safety precautions and routine maintenance must not be taken for granted by vehicle owners.

The President particularly directed the Ministry of Transport, the Federal Road Safety Commission and other stakeholders to urgently address the issue of safety standards in the country, in order to stem the embarrassing frequency of the tragedies.
