Bill for a Law Establishing Akwa Ibom State Security Trust Fund, passes second reading in the H.O.A

A Bill for a Law to Establish the Akwa Ibom State Security Trust Fund, 2019, today passed second reading in the House of Assembly.

The Bill, sponsored by the member for Nsit Ubium state constituency, Barrister Otobong Bob, and fifteen other members, seeks to foster effective and enduring public-private partnership for crime prevention, containment and eradication in order to make Akwa Ibom safer.

Barrister Bob, in his presentation, told his colleagues that the Bill, if passed into law, will see to it that security personnel in the state are trained and re-trained; review funding for relevant security projects, and help in the acquisition of security equipment for the effective functioning of security outfits operating in the state.

Comfort FM House of Assembly Correspondent, Ruth Amadin, reports that while members for Etinan, Anefiok Dennis; that of Abak, David Lawrence; Aniekan Uko of Ibiesikpo/Asutan and others lent support to the bill, Speaker, Aniekan Bassey referred it to the House Committees on Youths and Sports and Security for in-depth study.

The House has adjourned sitting till Tuesday, November 19, 2019.
