ASUU dares Federal Government over Integrated Personnel Payroll and Information System registration

Academic Staff Union of Universities is planning to boycott registration into the Integrated Personnel Payroll and Information System announced by the Federal Government to begin next week.
ASUU’s National President, Biodun Ogunyemi, made this known while reacting to an advertorial by the Accountant General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris, which state that the university tutors will be captured on the system between November 25 and December 7, 2019.
Ogunyemi insisted that no lecturer would be allowed to enroll into the payroll system, as ASUU had proposed an alternative payroll arrangement for lectures, which would be comparable to Federal Government’s proposed System.
He noted that the Senate had asked the Union to maintain status quo, following threat of a strike last month, and that the university lecturers would have a follow-up meeting with the leadership of the Upper Chamber to discuss the alternative they are proposing to the government.
