APPOINTMENT

The presidency has defended the choice of Ahmed Rufai as the Director-General of National Intelligence Agency describing the criticism trailing his appointment in a section of the media as regrettable.

The position of the government is contained in a statement issued in Abuja yesterday by Deputy Director (Information), Media Unit of the State House Abiodun Oladunjoye, which quoted a Presidential Spokesman, Malam Garba Shehu, as flaying the negative reports.

Chief of Staff to the President, Malam Abba Kyari, on his part, described the erstwhile aide on international relations to the President as “a patriot, intelligent and consummate gentleman”.
