Akwa Ibom state govt to empower ten thousand youths in Small And Medium Scale Enterprises this year

Ten thousand Akwa Ibom youths will this year, be engaged in Small And Medium Scale Enterprises by the state government in order to provide manpower for the Information And Communication Technology sector and other sectors.

Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Prince Ukpong Akpabio and Governor Udom Emmanuel’s Senior Special Assistant on Entrepreneurial Development and Marketing, Ime Uwah, announced this during the End of Year Get Together organised for Youths, held at Christ the King Primary School grounds, Wellington Bassey Way, Uyo.

The duo said youths in the state would be developed through the “Ibom Three Thousand Initiative” and “Ibom Business Clinic” designed for existing businesses with less capacity for advancement.

The initiatives according to them, will involve setting up entrepreneurship centres in each of the thirty one Local Government Areas of the state to develop skills in hair dressing, welding and other vocations, as well as train youths on management of small and medium scale businesses.

They also announced that registration for the programme will commence simultaneously in all the Local Government Areass from Monday, 6th January, 2020, while those for the Business Clinic will have to visit the State Ministry of Trade and Investment for training sessions with experts on how to grow their businesses
