Akwa Ibom State Government to Launch ‘Orange State’ Mobile App

A new mobile phone application to be known as the “Orange State”, is to be launched by the Akwa Ibom State Government soon.

The Commissioner for Culture and Tourism,Mr Oman Esin ,who made this known during the 2019 World Tourism Day celebration in Uyo, said that the idea is aimed at taking the awareness of tourism and economic potentials of Akwa Ibom to the global stage.

According to the Commissioner, the application will provide information on every tourist location in the state and emergency services, cuisine and accommodation when downloaded.

On this year’s Christmas celebration, Mr Esin said a lot of activities are being out together to attract holiday makers and fun seekers from far and near to the state, assuring that the events will be unprecedented.

Chairman of the State Hotels Management and Tourism Board, Mr Ini Akpabio, said Akwa Ibom has every reason to participate in the world event, considering her significant impact in culture and tourism development which led to her recognition as one of the most active tourism states in Nigeria by an international trade and tourism organization in 2017.

Mr Akpabio announced plans of the Board for the next one year to include development of new tourism sites like the Ibom Eye, which is a sixty meter high Ferris Wheel and the Ibom magical garden to be located in Uyo, among other innovations.
