A’Ibom State government warns against sale of fake emblems and stickers to motorists

Akwa Ibom State government has warned persons involved in the printing and sale of fake emblems and stickers to resist from the business or be ready to face the consequences.

Commissioner for Transport and Solid Minerals, Chief Uno Etim Uno, sounded the note of caution at a solemn assembly convened by the Road Levies Implementation and Re-branding Scheme.

Uno said it was criminal for such persons to deprive government of huge amounts, which would have boosted revenue for the state, saying already, security agencies have been put on alert to arrest perpetrators.

The commissioner, who was represented by the Director of Research Planning and Statistics, Reverend Eyo Abia, praised the Scheme for being one of the sources of revenue for the state and for organizing the solemn assembly.

The Chief Consultant of the Road Levies Implementation Scheme, Prince Victor Eddie, lamented that efforts of the Scheme to boost the state’s revenue base, have been inhibited by printers and sellers of counterfeit Emblems and Stickers.

Prince Eddie thanked the state government for promising to intervene and cautioned motorists against buying fake documents like stickers, state clearance certificates, service charge and other receipts from other states as defaulters will have their vehicles impounded for ninety days, while the drivers will be prosecuted.

The consultant announced the cost of signage and Branding for Vehicles as fifteen thousand naira; Social Service Charge, seven thousand, five hundred naira; daily signage haulage for heavy for Long Distance Vehicles, fifteen thousand naira, while daily Signage haulage for Heavy Duty Truck attracts seven thousand, five hundred naira.
