Activists of #RevolutionNow defy government order, stage protest in Lagos

Written by on August 5, 2019

After several attempts by the government to stall the planned protest by the #RevolutionNow, the group defied the Federal Government order by going ahead with their action.

The government had banned activists from holding the #RevolutionNow protest called by the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress Omoyele Sowore.

Sowore was arrested Saturday by operatives of the Department of State Services on account of the then scheduled protest.

Reports say security agents under the aegis of OP MESA, a joint Internal Security Operational platform made up of the Army, Navy and Air Force, had surrounded the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos this morning preventing people from gaing access.

Security agents reportedly fired teargas and shots at the un-armed protesters, who sang revolutionary songs.

However, no death was recorded.
