In recent days, Nigerians have come out to share personal stories of brutality and inhumane treatment meted out on them by the Anti-Robbery Squad of the Nigerian Police. These stories have a pattern to it, it is that men of SARS have been constantly harassing, molesting, beating and sometimes killing people for doing absolutely nothing.
In some cases for having an expensive phone or laptop, you’re harassed and may end up in jail. Some others say SARS personnel even drive thier victims to the ATM to withdraw money for them.
Nigerians will protest all of these and more on December 11.
The Police have made a statement, dismissing calls for proscription of SARS, saying they’ve been doing a good job of dealing with crime. #EndSARS
